Consultations, Petitions, Surveys...

Unlike Heathrows staff/Directors, DFT Government workers/Ministers, we are unpaid beleaguered residents who in our spare time, have voluntarily had to deal with the following nightmares these past few weeks/years. Why doesnt Heathrow understand - its NOT getting a 3rd runway, EVER!:-

  9. 23/8/26 - Telegraph says Heathrow's airlines are considering fighting for a judicial review which will cost them hundreds of millions - to stop the 3rd runway becoming an HS2 white elephant.
I'm guessing they want to close Heathrow Airport limited company down and have Arora build a short 3rd runway and run the airport??

  10. 23/8/26 - DFT ignores Jet vibrations but Guardian says the 3rd runway's vibrations would shake Britains largest 600 year old medieval barn to bits.

  19. 12/8/26 - listening to Martin Gilmour - Deputy Director, Policy, Heathrow Expansion, Department for Transport (DfT) at todays Webinar, it appears his government department only wants to hear about the things his lazy contractors have forgotten to include in the HENPS, not what us beleguered residents think! Here are his slides he showed us & promised to send written answers to the questions from the 100 participants - to CISHA this week.

  20. 11/8/26 - Today we have recieved another leaflet and this that we have to read today. The CAA has said the passengers must pay Heathrow and its staff £320million to torture us residents - but theres not one penny for us beleaguered residents. Hillingdon Council voted to support and protect us residents - well, where is our financial support? Shouldnt heathrow and its passengers pay for our Council tax? or pay us for the hours and hours each resident has to spend attending heathrows boreing meetings/consultations, reading the rubbish/paraphenalia that heathrow publishes about its dream-runway thats never going to happen.

  21. 11/8/26 - Labourlist.org Heathrow expansion - flying in the face of reason.

  33. Add your name to Friends of The Earth Petition to Stop Aviation Expansion :-

  34. 20/6/26 - Hillingdon Council remains firmly opposed to any airport expansion.

  35. No3rdRunway Coalition meetings (Facebook) and press

  36. 16/6/26 - Attended the CISHA Forum meeting where Thomas Wolbye - CEO of Heathrow Airport Limited said ..if I had the money, I'd want to buy (the 3rdRunway houses) tomorrow.
    - However he hasn't any money ie. Heathrow is in debt to the tune of at least £14 billion!!
How can he afford to buy:-
    - 783 homes in the CPZ?
    - 5500 homes in the outer Compulsory Purchase Area affected by unbearable noise, pollution, etc that would leave 17,000 people homeless?
    - All these hundreds of businesses in the existing 3rdRunway footprint?
    - Compensate the 10,000 workers who will probably loose their existing jobs in the 3rdRunway footprint area, eg. a local pub will close, not move, and all its staff, cooks, suppliers will be unemployed?

  37. 21/7/26 - Attend Heathrow's Longford Neighbourhood Group meeting - Heathrow is in so much trouble with locals Mental Health and Wellbeing in preparation to go though and correct Heathrow's draft consultation documents - Heathrow expect free slave labour from us to reduce the anxiety and stress of local recipients receiving more paraphernalia from Heathrow!

  38. 9/7/26 - Then attended our MP, John McDonnell's informative and packed out local meeting where Paul Beckford from the No 3rd Runway Coalition spoke and handed us these:-
    a. Response Guides for the consultation on Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement (HENPS)

    b. The No 3rd Runway Coalition guide to Climate Impacts of Heathrow Expansion

    c. The Aviation NGO's 4 Tests

    How to respond:-
It’s important that as many people as possible respond to the consultation in their own way.
Remember you do not have to answer every question and please use this guide to focus on the issues that matter most to you.
You can respond by filling in the online form (if you pass their robot secutity check!),
    or
via email: henpsconsultation@dft.gov.uk (when responding to the consultation by email, please copy in your MP and councillors)
    or
in writing to: Airports National Policy Statement Review Team, Great Minster House, 33 Horseferry Road, London, SW1P 4DR.

The full range of consultation documents and options for responding can be found here.

On Thursday 18th June, under cover of the Makerfield by-election, the government quietly released its public consultation for the Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement. It's hard to grasp the scale of what is planned - the equivalent of building another Gatwick airport next to Heathrow in London, and requiring the M25 to be rerouted. Despite this, the brief consultation will only run until 1st September, while MPs and the public are off on their summer holidays.

Before the end of August - Friends of The Earth - lets you use their template that automatically creates an email to say no to the government's climate-wrecking support for Heathrow expansion and lets you submit it to the govt.

20 days left to respond - The Bedford Park Society The Bedford Park Society has a useful Response Guide with Key points to include if youre going to have 3rdRunway flights flying overhead for 18hrs a day..

  39. 14/7/26 Attend Aroras Heathrow West Consultation in Colnbrook this afternoon where they just displayed stuff from their last consultation (in 2018?).

  40. Read and understand and fill out Heathrows Land Referencing Survey that they not only posted to all affected residents but disturb us by knocking on our doors to fill them in - even though we all filled them in years ago in (2018?) and the DCO doesn't require the forms for another 2 years.

  41. And of course replace Lamppost signs in Harmondsworth, comment on social media, emails, websites...

  42. There's a public AEF webinar meeting "Understanding the draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement"
next Monday 20th July at 10am
    Join Zoom Meeting:-

  44. Thurs 23rd July 2026 Big Heathrow expansion public meeting in Twickenham tonight with Richmond Council, Ruth Cadbury MP, Munira Wilson MP, Sarah Olney MP, Cllr Gareth Roberts, Cllr Julia Neden-Watts and Cllr Phil Geisler,

  45. The event on Thursday 23 July will give residents the opportunity to discuss the latest government consultation on Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement (HENPS) – where they can ask questions and share how the proposals could impact their homes, health and quality of life.
Councillor Gareth Roberts, Leader of Richmond Council, said: “Heathrow expansion would be a huge backwards step for our borough. A third runway would mean more aircraft overhead, worse air quality, higher carbon emissions and even more pressure on communities that already live with the daily impact of what is already Europe’s busiest airport.

  46. Stay Grounded have a new toolkit : Legal avenues to challenge airport expansion!

  47. Here are some of the Draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement documents:-

heathrow expects us beleagured residents to do this full time stressful unpaid voluntary job !!

The stress - having to read all this, understand and respond to all these surveys, consultations, meeting... Heathrow must pay us! Each respondent must get at least an all-inclusive holiday to Bermuda to relax away from these problems... or pay us cash at the rate of Thomas Wolbye's salary plus perks! My neighbour said he doesn't know if its Heathrow, the balifs, water or electricity companies, or Landlord or Council tax or who is banging on his door - stress and anxiety doesn't even come close to describing the pressure on us all - who just cant face going outside, let alone to work!

The Times and Telegraph have both reported that as usual, heathrow is dragging its feet in offering therapy to 3rdRunway residents!

In May 2026, Arora Group and Heathrow West Limited (HWL) put forward a new rival proposal for a two-phase approach to building the new runway.

Govt drops Arora's "shorter/cheaper" runway proposal - 25th Nov 2025

The government accounced today that it has dropped Arora's shorter/cheaper 3rd Runway proposal, and will look at heathrows £33bn (£49bn??) proposal that will require:- the 3 levels high, 17 lane M25/M4 junction to be put into tunnels!

There are still many stages and years to go, before the government has to decide (2029?) IF it wants to go ahead with the 3rd runway, that would mean bulldozing the ancient Longford Village and most of Harmondsworth village - off the face of this earth (destroying hundreds of businesses on that footprint and making thousands of families homeless!) - just to increase the profits of Heathrow's foreign shareholders!
ECONOMIC GROWTH: Rachel Reeves lies when she says the 3rd runway would grow the economy - more UK citizens fly out of the country on holiday with £45bn MORE money, than foreigners visiting the country bring in! ie. Heathrow costs the country £45bn a year!!
JOBS: With robotic floor-cleaners, self check-in, automatic boarding, the 3rd runway/airport wont create any new jobs, in fact thousands of existing jobs in the current villages will be lost/destroyed! (do you know heathrow promised that Terminal 5 would create 9000 new jobs if it was built, and once it was up and running, heathrow had actually reduced their workforce by 4000!). So heathrow lies!
CARS: Everyone on the M25 and M4 will face years of misery and delays as the 17 lanes on 3 different levels at the M4 junction are all put into tunnels.
DELAYS: Heathrows building record is bismal! Always late and over budget - Victoria train line to Terminal 2 collapsed; Terminal 5 was how many years late and over budget? recently the central Hilton Hotel at Terminal 2 was supposed to be completed in 2017... two, three years later it was still being built! Recently, Heathrow's behind all UK airport xray machines should have been upgraded by 1/6/24!
CLIMATE CHANGE : "Global warming", rising sea levels.. which are going to kill grandchildren when they get to our age {human liver/kidneys boil at 54'c which is what a lot of deserts/places get to now in 2025! The 2017 heatwave killed 40,000 Paris'ians of heatstroke! Currently, planes make up 3-6% UK's carbon dioxide (co2) budget.. but as factories/homes/cars convert to clean electric, planes never can (and co2 wise - Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is worse than fossil fuel) so by 2050 planes will be producing more than 25% of the UK's co2! Heathrow's Directors are currently trying to convince MP's that when UK planes leave the UK (40miles to the coast?) that Heathrow planes' with UK passengers on board, co2 shouldn't be counted in the UK's co2 budget! If the world misses 1.5'c temperature rise, global temperatures will then rise astronomically and fast! STOP HEATHROW EXPANSION!
Heathrow's directors just dont understand - they are NEVER going to get a 3rd runway! Someone really should stand up at their Director meetings every month, and tell them - its NEVER going to happen! Give up!! Stop causing your neighbouring residents this utter misery!

News Update for 2022

Heathrow "paused" its 3rd Runway expansion plans.
Heathrow has removed the £14 billion for expansion, from its H7 budget (for the next 5 years).

17th Feb 2022 Twitter TAG - Holland-Kaye told City A.M. "we have a huge infrastructure -£17billion worth of assets, that we need to maintain and keep running even when very few people are flying." Companies House accts show it had to service £20.135billion worth of borrowings at 31/12/20

26th April 2022 - Sky News has just reported Heathrow has lost £4billion during this pandemic (they probably issued this statement before going into Union pay negotiations!!)

The UK is in a Code Red Climate Emergency!

Time to crush all planes and stop flying forever! Anyone for building wooden sailing ships?
